For the past twenty years, artist Benjamin Junta has been studying and creating art in various parts of the United States, all the while making the San Francisco Bay Area his home.  His paintings are rooted in traditional academic teachings, and are abstract in nature.  He works in a variety of media, including oils and acrylics, and combines this media with collaged items ranging from found objects to clothing, hats, photographs, and writings.

Simultaneously, for the past decade, the artist has
owned and run his own business, Pantelleria Designs  www.pantelleriadesigns.com , specializing in a breadth of decorative painting and murals for both residential and commercial clients.

A graduate of Occidental College, he has studied
with numerous prominent American and British painters.  Though his initial training was typically classical in nature, working from still lifes and nude models, his present work lies in the wide realms of abstraction.  His early artistic study began with Squeek Carnwath at the University of California, Davis.  He then moved on to Occidental College in Los Angeles, CA, where he studied art, as well as taking a degree in International Relations.

His early paintings were landscapes, largely
influenced by his study with the noted American painters Wolf Kahn and Bernard Chaet.   Mr. Junta has also studied with the British painter, John Walker.  As well he has studied with American still life painter William Bailey.  Mr Junta has exhibited on the East Coast, Santa Fe, New Mexico, Los Angeles, CA, Santa Barbara, CA, as well as at Stanford University and other locations in  Northern California.
